Alejandro Pidal y Mon (1846-1913). Spanish jurist, politician and academic. Minister of Public Works (1884-1885) in a government of Cánovas del Castillo. Member and director of the Real Academia Española (Royal Spanish Academy). In 1881 he founded the Unión Católica party. President of the Congress of Deputies (1891-1893, 1896-1898 and 1899-1900).
