Jousting at Le Rivau, mounted knights in full armour prepare for the joust

Medieval jousting display at the Chateau du Rivau near Tours in the Loire Valley. The event is held annually in August and takes place over a whole weekend with jousting displays each afternoon in the drained castle moat. As well as the jousting. several local troupes of actors and actresses conduct displays in full medieval costume throughout the day and there are stalls and sideshows with a medieval theme.
