Garber became popular both with the peo-ple and the politicians, and was nominated forGovernor by the Republican Convention, whichassembled at Lincoln Sept. 3, 1874, and was electedby a handsome majority. He served so acceptablythat he was renominated by the convention whichmet Sept. 2G, 187G. He was again endorsed at thepolls in November, and served until the close ofhis term in 1878.
