[20] OTHER WINTER SHORT COURSES APPLE PACKING SCHOOL October 3 to 7, (inc.) 1916 The apple grading law which was passed by the lastLegislature calls for radical changes in preparing this fruit formarket. In order to meet the demand for definite information. APPLE PACKING on this subject it was decided to hold the Apple Packing Schoolsufficiently early to be of assistance this fall to those who mightbe able to take advantage of it. This school is supervised bythe Department of Pomology and consists very largely of practicework in packing fruit in barrels, boxes, and fancy work is supplemented by lectures upon different phasesof the apple industry. A small fee is charged to help pay forfruit and other materials used in the work. Owing to lack offacilities to handle a large number, the registration is usuallylimited. [21] FARMERS WEEK March 26 to 30, 1917 In order to reach those who cannot come to the collegefor a longer time, this very practical course, four days in length,is given. The regular college equipment is used, and the workof the regular faculty is supplemented by lectures and demon-strations given by prominent men.
