Notre Dame de Sees Cathedral, Sees, Normandy. France. Stained glass window. Saint Nicolas Chapel. Sees stands on the banks of the River Orne. It has been an important religious centre since AD 400, when Saint Latuin became its first bishop. The Gothic cathedral dominates Sees. The western facade of the cathedral was bolstered with buttresses in the 16th century when it began to lean dangerously. Stained glass windows are present in the transept, dating back to the13th century. In the porch carvings can still be seen, including a cat carrying its kitten and a double-headed eagle.
