Bareiro, in his additions tothe work of Pino, says that many persons died with-out confession or extreme unction, and that nothingwas more rare than to see the Holy Eucharist adminis-tered ; that the churches were nearly all in ruins, andmost of them certainly unworthy of being called tem-ples of God. The long vacancy of the see of Durango was filled bythe appointment of Rt. Rev. Joseph Anthony Laureanode Zubiria, a bishop of piety, energy, and zeal. The. SIGNATURE OF RT. REV.
