Bread-Stone Turnip- An extra fine turnip of rare quality, oblong shape, is entirely freefrom the obnoxious taste so prevalent in many varieties. While of the Ruta-Baga type, they are of such extra fine quality that they deserve to bs classed with the best table turnips. They are of medium size, very quick growing, and the roots are very smooth, white with fai"t-colored top. The flesh is perfectly white, fine-grained, and cooks in only fifteen minutes; remarkably tender and very sweet. Fnest table turnip for winter and spring use. Oz. 12c; % lb. 30c; lb. 90c Strap Leaf Purple Top. Cflture.âSeeds should be sown in June in drills and thinned to 12 inches apart. Dry, rich soil is most suitable. In old gardens they often grow clumpy and wormy. This may be remedied by brushing away earth from roots to a depth of J£ inch when they commence to enlarge and dusting with wood ashes. Turnips will keep longer and be in better condi- dition if buried in sand or turf in cellar or pitted out doors the same as for potatoes. 1126.
