Rufus Daniel Isaacs, 1st Marquess of Reading, was a British Liberal politician and judge, who served as Lord Chief Justice of England,[1] Viceroy of India, and Foreign Secretary, the last Liberal to hold that post. Isaacs entered the House of Commons as the Liberal Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Reading at a by-election on 6 August 1904, a seat he held for nine years until 1913. His statue stands in The King George V Memorial Gardens in Reading over the road form The Royal Berkshire Hospital.
