She taught first in a Primary School in Taunton,being principal for five years. She then took an assistants posi-tion in a Grammar School in Taunton. The next year, 1S69-70,she took the position of first assistant at the Wolfeboro Institute,a private school in New Hampshire. Owing to ill health shedid little teaching the following three years. In 1873 she was assistant in the Franklin, Mass., High School,and from 1874 to 1876 assistant in the Canton High School. In1876 she lield the same position in the Chelsea High School. Inthe fall of 1877 ^^^^ ^ siiort time a teacher in the Girls High School, Boston, but was soon transferred to the BostonNormal vSchool as teacher of mathematics, wiiicli i:)osition sheheld until the time of lier death, April 30, 1893.
