Wheaton College is a Christian liberal arts college and graduate school. The Protestant college located in the west suburban Chicago community of Wheaton was founded by evangelical abolitionists on the eve of the American Civil War in 1860. It became a stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War and is noted for having one of Illinois' first African-American college graduates. In the background with an American flag flying from its top is Blanchard Hall. Wheaton College student enrollment is nearly 3,000 students which includes both under- and post-graduate attendees.
