Bus on guided busway in Cambridge England. This guided busway is a dedicated, buses-only route with buses running on a purpose-built track. The bus is guided along the route so that steering is automatically controlled and, like a tram, the vehicle follows a set path. The bus driver controls the speed of the vehicle. The busway track is made up of two concrete beams with kerbs and guide wheels on the bus connect with the kerb and run along it to steer the bus. Cambridge the buses also travel on normal roads where the driver takes over control. Cambridgeshire Guided Busway linking St Ives, Cambridge and Trumpington opened on 7 August 2011.
