"Within a few days the bulk of bulbs will have left this country, and not many are likely to be left here for possible additional ; aOVEENMENT GIVES WARNING. In. its weekly bulletin to crop corre- spondents the U. S. Department of Ag- riculture gives warning in the matter of an adulterant for white and alsike clo- ver seed which the department says is being imported. The notice is as fol- lows: "There is being offered to the seed trade in the United States from Euro- pean sources a mixture of seeds under the names of Trifolium angulatum and Trifolium parviflorum, which is similar in color and general appearance to a mixture of alsike and white clover seed. "The seeds are slightly smaller than those of alsike or white clovelr, but can be easily distinguished under a mag- nifying glass by their rough surface as contrasted with the smooth surface of alsike and white clover seed. "This mixture has no recognized commercial value in this country and will doubtless either be sold as white and alsike clover seed or used as an adulterant of these seeds. "Some of this seed has been import- ed at a price approximately one-half that of alsike and one-fourth that of white clover seed and an attempt has been made to sell it as a mixture of white and alsike clover. "All purchasers of mixtures of white and alsike clover seed should examine them carefully
