View from the ramparts of Castell de Capdepera looking down on the town below and out towards the sea. The castle dates from the 13th century and was built to defend the area from attack from the sea and the lands below. The castle was like a fortified village. Eventually threats of invasion disappeared and the town grew at the foot of the castle some 162 metres below.
