It is a remarkable presentation of a simple incident,and is worthy a place in any Jean Baptiste Robie (1821- )FLOWERS AND STILL LIFE Canvas. Height, 34., inches; width, 25 inches. Signed Robies flower pieces have won high rank because of the painterssplendid workmanship. He always shows that he knows exceedinglywell what he was undertaking. In painting his groups of flowers andstriking bits of still life, he presents his subjects with ardor and vivac-ity, with grace and elegance, with precision of knowledge, and with ahigh order of intelligence. This work is in every way technicallyadmirable and one of his best.
