Three-dimensional space-filling model of esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (brand names Sompraz, Zoleri, Nexium, Lucen, Esopral; Axagon in Italy, Nexiam in Belgium) which is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Esomeprazole is the S-enantiomer of omeprazole (marketed as Losec/Prilosec). Esomeprazole was the third biggest selling pharmaceutical drug in the world for 2005, totaling US$ billion in sales. In this model, carbon atoms are shown in light blue, nitrogens in dark blue, oxygens in red, hydrogens in white, and the single sulfur atom in yellow.
