Eric Vilain, French medical geneticist, urologist and researcher on sexual development. Vilain is an expert on the biology of intersexuality and sexual differentiation. Here, he is obtaining saliva samples for DNA analysis in a gay twins study. Such twin studies attempt to ascertain whether certain traits are due to genetic factors, environmental factors, or both. This study, taking place at UCLA, California, USA, looks at the epigenetics of sexuality in identical twins. Vilain is Professor of Human Genetics, Pediatrics and Urology at UCLA.
