Central dogma of molecular biology, illustration

Illustration of the central dogma of molecular biology. The central dogma describes the flow of genetic information. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is transcribed into mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) which is then translated to a protein product. Transcription occurs in the cell nucleus. Translation occurs in the cytoplasm on organelles called ribosomes.
