Solving the Grade Crossing Problem California Commission Considers the Reduction ofVehicle Speeds with Highway Obstruc-tions and Other Methods THE California Railroad Commission has been con-ducting an investigation with a view to decreasinggrade crossing accidents in that State. Inspections ofmore than 2000 crossings have been made, 1600 ofwhich inspections have been covered by reports sent tothe interested parties. In these reports a total of 1100recommendations have been made varying in impor-tance from the removal of brush to the elimination ofthe crossing by closing the street or the separation ofgrades.
