The fa-cial characteristics ofmany individuals in thetribe are noticeably Asi-atic. The obliquely seteyes are a common oc-currence. The naturalaptness for imitationshown by many is alsostrikingly suggestive ofa Chinese and Japanesetrait. An interesting inci-dent bearing upon thiscame up in connectionwith the brinoringr of ayoung girl of this tribeto the United Statesby Mrs. Peary in first and only thingthat elicited expressionsof vivid surprise and as-tonishment from thisgirl was the sight of aChinaman upon thestreet, to whom she im-mediately ran and at-tempted to enter into conversation.
