Gemini North telescope. View of the Gemini North telescope at the summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii, USA. This 8-metre optical/infrared telescope was completed in 1999 and is one of two telescopes that make up the Gemini Observatory. It's twin telescope, Gemini South is located in Cerro Pachon, Chile. Together, the two telescopes give coverage of virtually the entire night sky. The Canada-France-Hawaii telescope (CFHT) is seen in the background. The constellation of Ursa Minor (upper left) can be seen amongst other stars, in the sky above.
