After each attack he would eitherreturn to the nest directly, or go off into the thicket afew moments before coming back home to assumesome new and striking pose. One such was when hestood over the young and some of them poked out theirheads to see for themselves what was going on. Some-times, when I made only a slight feint, he would runpart way to meet me and stand out in the open in adefiant attitude, while I snapped him. 234. p -a 2pa THRUSH COUSINS During the course of this fracas the young had oneby one crawled just outside the nest into the shadeclose by, all but one, which was more puny than therest and could not get out of the rather deep cup.
