A distinctive coloris used for each of two nearly opposite platforms, so as toaid in identifying the stations at a glance. Directory slabsof marble, giving the station name and surrounded by aborder of colored ceramic mosaic tile, have been set over thevarious tunnel entrances. The design of the booths, news stands, borders, lettersand signs is due to the architect of the Boston ElevatedRailway Co. The stations are lighted by incandescent electric lights. Plate 13.
