UNITED STATES: Jan. 1, 2015: John Janney one of the last farmers in Western Loudoun to sell his farm takes one last walk on the 350 acre farm before its sold on the 5th of January 2015. There is a bumper sticker that reads, "Farms when there are gone they are gone forever". The farm has been in the family sense 1941. Loudoun County Virginia’s expanding business community in a line that flows from east to west is leaving its agricultural history behind. The future is now fueled by fast-growing start-ups and information technology and the housing they need to live in. Family farmers and small retailers are closing up shop, making way for national chains and billion-dollar corporations. The area used to have more than 100 dairy farms, now it has one.
