Black and white panoramic of Gruinard island, or anthrax island as it's also known, taken by A832 road, Wester Ross, Scotland

Gruinard Island, Wester Ross, Scotland, taken on a very clear, bright, spring day showing the sea, cloud reflections and snowy mountains in the background. Situated near to Laide, Poolewe and Gairloch. Seals can often be seen basking on the rocks that are situated at the bottom of this picture. However although the Island looks very picturesque today, it does hold a somewhat murky past as was used for Anthrax testing during the war in 1942 and was quarantined for almost 50 years, hence also gaining the name 'Anthrax Island.' Now only home to sheep.
