It is extremely desirable that the same bud a (fig. 30) may be the fruiting-eye for upright shoots; but, in case it is too weak, the cut is made above the eye b. As all subsequent years are a repetition of this third year, with the single change in fall-pruning, we conclude this chapter with a description of the different modes of fall-pruning.
