Burford, traditionally the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’ an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is protected by the Cotswolds Conservation Board. The ram’s head on the limestone marker at the top of the hill is made from same stone that underlies the region and depicts the animal that historically brought wealth with its wool.
