Hundreds of tons of the material, with which is often asso-ciated serpentine or talc, have in past years been ground, and used for roofing in several cities of the United States are roofed with this material. None ofthe occurrences are at present being worked. Seven of the more important open cuts, from which the actinolite has been shipped, are shown on the map.* Some of these occur on lots 4 and 5 in the seventh concessionof Elzevir township, about three miles east of the village of Actinolite.
