The village of Guernina was raided by the Field Security Police Section of the 36th Infantry Brigade (78th Division) as the inhabitants were suspected of hoarding arms and ammunition for the enemy. However nothing was found and the natives throughout the inspection friendly and helpful. In view of this it was decided to send presents to the inhabitants of the village as a sign of appreciation and also to sponsor goodwill between the British and the Arab population. 19
