Human anatomy, including structure and development and practical considerations . per surface of this structure, lodged within the callosal gyrus, and, curvingaround the splenium, descends withinthe hippocampal gyrus to end in thefore-part of the temporal lobe and per-haps also in the uncus. The cingulumis not composed of fibres which extendits entire length, but is made up of anumber of shorter tracts, as shown byits incomplete degeneration after sectionof the fasciculus. The superior longitudinal fas-ciculus, also called the fasciculusarcuatus, passes from the frontal andparietal opercula. over the region ofthe insula, to the inferior parietal con-volution, the occipital lobe and the superior and middle temporal convolutions. Itis composed of a number of short bundles which proceed from the frontal lobe partlyin the sagittal direction towards the occipital lobe, and partly in cur\es into thetemporal lobe. The inferior longitudinal fasciculus is a well-marked bundle which extendsfrom the tip of the occipital lobe and the cuneus, along the outer side of the optic.
