Giraffes drinking. Two male giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis) drinking from a pool. Their front legs must be widely splayed in order for their heads to reach the water. Giraffes live in the savannahs of sub-Saharan Africa, feeding on the leaves at the tops of trees. The giraffe is the tallest living land animal, some males reaching over 6 metres in height. Photographed in the Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa.
