Penelope Jo Parsons Maddy (born 1950), US mathematician and philosopher. Maddy (born Penelope Jo Parsons) is seen here as a high school student in March 1968, standing in front of her Science Talent Search exhibit ('Algebraic Properties for a General Power Set'). Parsons won a USD 4000 scholarship in the competition. She went on to obtain her doctorate from Princeton. As of 2017, she is UCI Distinguished Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science and of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine.
