This monument stands beside the road between Harris and Lewis on the Outer Hebrides and was built in memory to the Heros of Lochs, commemorating a land struggle between wealthy land owners attempting to clear the land for deer hunting and sheep rearing, and the local crofters who wanted to retain their way of life. They orchestrated raids on the deer herds to try and fend off the landlords plans. This monument was designed by Will Maclean and built by Jim Crawford in 1994.
