A German hunting/sporting crossbow, circa 1600. Iron prod with a smith mark stamped on the inside. Bridle of cord with interlaced iron ring and plaited hemp string. The tiller of dark wood decorated with fine engravings and bone inlays on top and bottom, and bearing a burled décor on the front two-thirds of its length. Cord mounted bone nut with original bolt retainer of horn. Lock with multiple axles, folding trigger with iron finger support. Tiller with several restored worm holes.
