Ethanoic acid reacting with magnesium ribbon. Ethanoic is a carboxylic acid, a weak acid. Ethanoic is also known as acetic or glacial acetic acid. Even in its concentrated form it does not have a very high reaction with magnesium ribbon. Hydrogen gas is released during the reaction.
