The Choir in St Mary Overies (now refered to as Southwark Cathedral) was the church of an Augustinian priory, Southwark Priory, dedicated to the Virgin Mary between 1106 and 1538. The present Gothic building was built between 1220 and 1420 after the church was severely damaged in the Great Fire of 1212 and lies on the south bank of the River Thames close to London Bridge, London
