Troops from the 40th Division in Camp Kearny, California, are seen arriving in Del Mar after a 10-day hiking trip in Southern California. The photograph was taken by Lt. Edward N. Jackson of the Signal Corps on May 2, 1918. The troops are part of the 79th Infantry brigade, transporting supplies by train. The image was censored and released by the Historical Branch of the War Plans Division on May 3, 1918.
