View NE of the Polrode Medieval wayside cross re-erected in St Kew churchyard, Cornwall, England, UK, in 1925. A granite wheel head with an equal limbed cross with splayed arms. Vertical beading on the upper N edge of the shaft has been replaced by a chamfer. The cross may have served as a waymark on the major route through the valley of the River Allen (A39 Atlantic Highway) or marked a crossing point of the river at Polrode MIll some 4km NE of St Kew. The shaft has been broken in two, the upper shaft & head re-shaped. In 1896 the upper portion was recorded as part of a footbridge at Polrode Mill. The lower part was found in Higher Polrode Farmhouse being used as a jamb for the kitchen fireplace.
