Morning sun portrait people pulling boat ashore, beach boatyard with yacht and planks, Westward, Carriacou, West Indies

The village of Windward, on the north-east coast of Carriacou was the home to Scottish boat-builders in the 19th Century. Scottish names and boat-building skills have been passed down and boat-building (yachts, small fishing boats and trading schooners) is still carried out in the traditional way, using hand-tools and white cedar wood, similar to oak.
