Wiedmann (1973)has subsequently referred the species to Eotetragonites because it lacks anumbilical lobe; this divergence reflects the difficulties sometimes encountered inplacing forms in the two genera where differing criteria—sutures vs. form ofconstriction—are used. In consequence the authors have questioned referenceof this species to Tetragonites until a full review of the Tetrag
