S/g in. Hand brakes are provided on one truck. They can beapplied from the ground by means of a hand wheel on theside of the underframe, which can be noticed in Grinding Links and Link Blocks By J. M. HamniTool Foreman. Lehigh Valley, Sayre, Pa. A UNIQUE homemade link and link block radius-grind-■^^ ing machine has been built at the Sayre shops of theLehigh Valley, using a roof support column as a frame fornioimting the parts. Parts of the machine are located onthe north, west, south and east sides of the column: alsothe inside, as shown in the illustration. The radius bar R and table T for clamping the parts areriveted together, the material used consisting of ^-in by Zy^-in, by lyi-in. angle iron, spacing blocks and a piece of scraptoiler plate. The adjustment bar A for adjusting the work tothe aloxite wheel (after the radius bar has been set to the cor-rect radius) is made from the same material as the radius bars are controlled by a common crosshead C whichis operated by two screws by tightening or loosening thecrosshead nut on one bar or the other. The aloxite wheel ?halt 6 is located at right angles with the table on the east
