SASEBO, Japan (Dec. 18, 2015) – Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Chief Hirosahi Nishitani, from Shirane-class destroyer JDS Kurama (DDH 144), presents a traditional rice cake to Master Chief Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Frank Bartanowitz in the chief’s mess aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). Bonhomme Richard is the lead ship of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group and is forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan in the 7th Fleet area of operations.
