Beyond these the ground rises gently toa low line of hills on the horizon, meeting a sky covered with heavy rollingclouds with a single patch of watery blue near the zenith. The wholepicture is beautifully painted, a masterpiece of one who, had he not chosento excel as an animal painter, would have been reckoned one of thegreatest landscapists.
