At Rosmead, the Brigade wasbroken up into several mobile columns, Private Paynestaying at headquarters in charge of medical stores, andoccasionally accompanying one of the columns asmounted orderly. He was thus occupied three months,after which he was sent to Naauwpoort for duty. Hestayed there about two months, and then returned toEngland, having served one year 301 days. He receivedboth the Queens and Kings South African War medalswith five Pi <: ^ H — Z UJ uz HZ O u z <u s; Maidstone Companies, (Vols.) 79 Private Sisley, on returning from Ceylon, wasdetailed for duty on No. 5 Hospital Train, travellingmainly in Cape Colony, and remained with it until hereturned home. Private Carr was sent to join the 14th Brigade FieldHospital, with General Plumers column, operating in theEastern Transvaal, and was appointed remained with the column several months, and sawmuch fighting until, on August 10th, 1901, his spine wasseverely injured, and he was invalided home. The injuryunfortunately proved of a permanent nature. Private H. J. Washford was attached to No. 1General Hospital, Wynberg, doing duty the whole timein the officers ward.
