Tracey Curtis-Taylor landed at the end of a remarkable 7000 mile flight from Cape Town, South Africa
31 December 2013 - Goodwood Aerodrome, West Sussex, UK - Tracey Curtis-Taylor landed at the end of a remarkable 7000 mile flight from Cape Town, South Africa. In 1928, Mary Heath - the first woman to hold a commercial flying licence in Britain - made news around the world as the first pilot, male or female, to fly solo a small, open-cockpit biplane from Cape Town to London. To commemorate that flight Tracey Curtis-Taylor embarked on a journey to fly her own open-cockpit 1942 vintage Boeing Stearman from Cape Town to Goodwood. The flight required a number of stops and suffered delays due to weather and political factors. This morning's leg from France saw Tracey crossing the Channel in very bad weather at just 500 ft
