Filipino Sunday in Hong Kong

The Central area of Hong Kong becomes traffic free in parts every Sunday. The population changes from the financial workers to Filipinos who work mainly as domestics and get the day off. My original encounter with this phenomena in 1998 left me thinking it was quite a sad event, but now I see it as very joyous. People meet and celebrate being together. The atmosphere is fun and patriotic, with a genuine feeling of community in it.
