5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 14, 2016) A fire support team with Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, observes battle space and deconflicts air and ground assets during Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 14, 2016. Fire support teams play an important role in coordinating the combined fires of a Marine Air-Ground Task Force. Exercise Alligator Dagger allows the MEU to continue to be a flexible, adaptable and persistent force, by sustaining the skills and proficiency Marines acquired during their pre-deployment training program.
