Cartoon by Berhard Gillam (1856-1896) from Puck Magazine of 15 July 1885. Entitled the new leader and the old chorus. John Alexander Logan had been the vice presidential candidate on the Republican ticket (James Blaine is shown in the cartoon wearing a hat that says ex leader) that lost the general election In 1884. By 1886 he had become the front-runner to become the 23rd president but died on December 26, 1886.
