Entrance portal of Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius (circa 1880) in Cirilometodska street of historic Upper Town in Zagreb


The Greek Catholic Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built in 1880 in neo-Byzantine style, based on the design of the architect Hermann Bollé (1845-1926). It was built on the place of the Chapel of , which had suffered serious damage in the disastrous earthquake. The central screen with icons was painted by the Ukrainian artist Epiminondas Buchevski and by domestic painter Nikola Masic, while four spacious paintings on the walls were painted by Ivan Tisov (1870-1928). Next to the church is also Greek Catholic Seminary, founded as early as in the 17th century.
