Dionysius Lardner, Irish-born scientific writer, 1835. Lardner (1793-1859) was Professor of natural philosophy and astronomy at London University (University College). From 1840-1845 he lectured in the USA and Cuba. He then returned to Europe and settled in Paris. Lardner was the author of the Cabinet Cyclopaedia (London, 1849). From a print after Daniel Maclise (1806-1870) for Fraser's Magazine. (London, 1830-1838).
