The thrombosis in a puerpera is not always limited to theveins of the uterus and of the pelvis. I have observed, for example, a fatal ease, death occurring on the seventeenth daypostpartum, preceded by convulsions and coma. It was not known whether the woman had had fever after delivery. In thepostmortem examination the longitudinal and lateral sinuses ofthe brain were found perfectly solid with thromboses. Therehad been a very severe postpartum hemorrhage, and there wereevidences in and about the womb of septic phlebitis.
